FONDART NACIONAL
During a residency in Licenza, I researched the Aniene River, focusing on water as an essential, mediating, and life-sustaining element in this valley. Inspired by the driftwood carried by the river’s current along its basin, Acqua Lattea is a ceramic installation with a continuous flow of water.
The work addresses themes of temporality, transformation, and cosmic connection in a context of climate change. The clay molds of driftwood, assembled to create an evocative map of the river, are transformed into an artificial basin that channels new flows of water, presenting the river as a temporal, life-giving being—a cosmic portal linking the earthly with the celestial. The piece invites reflection on the river’s transient nature, flowing without recognizing political borders or boundaries, reminding us of the intrinsic freedom of water and its connection to the cosmos.
